Question and Answers

Q:

Ice maker clogs and freezes up on door GSH22KGMCWW Ge Refrigerator

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model GSH22KGMCWW; sorry you are experiencing a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on your description if the chute icing up, here are a few tips to help. First it is normal for ice chips to build up in the bottom of the ice bucket; these chips can cause issues if the bucket is not cleaned regularly. When these chips build-up enough they will be pushed out into the chute causing the chute door to ice up and malfunction thus causing even more icing.  The bucket should be removed and cleaned monthly. Just empty the ice and flush the bucket with warm water, dry and return to freezer. To help stop some ice build-up in the chute try cleaning the chute and flapper door again with warm water, then use a food grade cooking spray to coat the chute and flapper door, let it sit for a few hours then wipe it off with a dry cloth. There may be a problem with the flapper door closing all the way; you will have to inspect this visually. Place a flashlight under the chute and see if light come through on the opposite side, if it does, the chute and chute door may need replacing as well as related components.  Depending on exactly what is broken on the ice maker, you may have to replace the entire ice maker; I would need more details on that as well as the rust spot.  A picture would be helpful.  I hope this helps you, if you need more help reply with details and I will be happy to respond.
