Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my GE dishwasher not draining?

A:

On something like this you will need to remove the drain hose from the pump assembly, operate the drain solenoid manually & see if the flapper opens & allows water to drain out. If you have water draining out, the problem is between the drain hose & the sink plumbing. This model has a check valve with a piston & nut that’s between the pump motor & discharge line, I recommend checking the piston & nut assembly. In the lower center back area inside the dishwasher you will see a filter screen. In the middle you will see the piston & nut assembly. Check the cone shaped tip for wear & tear. If the tip is not sealing the opening, this will prevent the dishwasher from draining properly. Another possibility would be a mechanical problem with the pump/motor assembly.
