I understand how it can be a challenge when it comes to finding the proper repair parts for your dishwasher. While you are waiting for a detailed reply from an expert I recommend visiting the Sears parts direct website were you can view a parts list and diagram of your model. I have provided the link below. Hi Julie,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

Typically when we refer to the brain of a dishwasher we are talking about an electronic control board. This dishwasher does not have an electronic control board it has a timer. The timer controls the dishwashers functions basically the same way an electronic control board would control functions in a dishwasher that has electronics.

From your description, you most likely need to replace the timer (part # WD21X10200). If the dishwasher will drain after you turn the timer knob, the drain pump, wiring, and everything in the drain circuit is good but the timer is intermittently sending voltage to the drain pump. To properly diagnose this issue you will need a volt/ohm meter.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to purchase the timer for your GE model number GSD4000J00WW dishwasher .

If you have a meter and are confident in your technical abilities please reply below and I will be happy to assist you further.
