Check to see if you hear the buzz of the water dispenser solenoid valve when you push the lever to dispense water. If you do, then you could have a frozen water line. There is a reservoir in the refrigerator that is used to cool the water before it goes to the dispenser. That reservoir is a run of coiled up water line tubing in that back bottom portion of the refrigerator. If you have items in the crisper drawers or bottom shelves of the refrigerator that are partially frozen, then I recommend that you check the reservoir to see if it has frozen water that is clogging the system. Defrosting the reservoir in that situation would correct your water dispenser problem. You can use a heat gun or hair dryer on a low heat setting to defrost the reservoir.

A failed water valve could also cause this water dispenser problem. If the valve is getting voltage but no water is flowing through that component, then the inlet water valve assembly will need to be replaced. The wiring diagram for your refrigerator is shown in the first image below. That information may help you check that water valve. Here is a video that shows how to replace that water valve in case it is bad. You can order parts from this page: Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator Model GS6SHAXLL03 Parts . Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components.

If that valve is not buzzing when you press the dispenser lever in, then you could have a bad water valve, a wiring failure or a bad switch in that dispenser. The second image below shows some information that should help you access components inside the dispenser on the front of the freezer door. Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components. You can check the wiring and the switch in that dispenser. You may also have a mechanical failure in that dispenser that is causing your problem.

These tips should help you troubleshoot that water dispenser problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
