Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your refrigerator and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number GS6SHAXKQ01 and from your description I would suspect an issue with the water valve allowing water to continue to flow into the ice maker. Thanks, Korinna. I would like to replace the ice and water "paddles" actuaters on the front. They are scuffed and discolored. Can you tell me how?

A:

Unfortunately there are no instructions for this. However, I'm attaching a picture with instructions to remove the dispenser cover. With the cover off, you will have access to almost the complete dispenser. Now disconnect power to the unit and remove the bracket control (# 15 in picture). With this out you will have complete access to the dispenser and can replace the levers. I hope this helps you. Safety Notice: Be sure to disconnect the appliance before performing any troubleshooting procedures. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks or repairs that might be recommended, please contact a local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

Korinna Thanks for trying, but the dispenser cover does not come off the way you show in the 1st picture. When prying off the cover from the bottom as shown, the 2 screw-down tabs holding the cover to the bottom of the enclosure (#1 in the 2nd picture) just break off. In my model, the dispenser cover should be removed by pry/lifting off the drip pan (#9 in the 2nd picture) exposing the 2 large phillips screws which retain the cover. The 2 pictures are NOT for the same model as evidenced by the slide control in the first picture vs. the 6 push buttons (# 18 & 19 in the second picture). Model gs6shaxkq01 applies to the 2nd picture only.
