Question and Answers

Q:

Does the auger motor require replacement?

A:

Good morning..... It may well be that the motor is seized or the threads on the auger shaft have stripped. I did locate a link that will discuss your situation in greater detail. Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this link will help you determine the best action to take and have a nice day.

Thanks for the inquiry about your refrigerator model GS6NHAXVT01, I will be glad to assist you. I would not recommend changing the auger motor without first checking the wiring harness at the door hinge, be sure you don’t have a loose connection causing this issue.  I have attached an image below that instructs testing the motor and other related components. I hope this helps you, should you need additional assistance please reply with added details and I will be happy to respond.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. Ron H.
