Question and Answers

Q:

Ice maker worked intermittenly and now doesn't work at all GS6NBEXRS01 Whirlpool Side-by-side refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your icemaker is not working properly.

1. Check the temperature of the freezer becasue if it is fewer than 17 degrees F it wont make ice.
2.Check if your water fill spout is plugged with ice, if it is then it wont make ice.
3. Check to see if water is getting to the water inlet valve.
4.Use an OHM meter to check the continuity of the water inlet valve. If it does not have any continuity then you need to replace your water valve. If it does then the icemaker itself is the problem and may need to be replaced.

Q:

Ho Do I change the water tube on my refrigerator in the freezer door?

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry your line was cut. This may be the new type fitting with the push/pull type connections. First, shut off the water to the refrigerator. Disconnect power to the unit. With these fittings, press in on the collar and pull the tube at the same time to release it.  To remove the water line, the dispenser cover will need to be removed. The first image below has the most common cover. If your dispenser cover looks like this, follow the instructions. Remove the screw holding the water line in place, inside the dispenser and now disconnect the water fitting, under the freezer door (some water will come out, so having a towel handy is a good idea). Now pull the water line up through the door, it will slide through the channel. To replace the water line, push it back down through the door. Connect line fittings, turn water on and test for leaks. If further help is needed, please reply.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't get the images you're referring to. I did take off the cover for the dispenser but there isn't any screw holding the water line in place, it's just sort of coming out this small opening. I'm worried if I pull this line out I won't be able to push the new one through. Will it get caught on something sliding in or does it run through the opening easily?

I see the images now, but my dispenser does not really look like that and like I said before, ther isnt a screw holding the tube in the dispenser. It seems to just stickout through the opening which is about the same size as the hose itself (5/16 I think)
