Question and Answers

Q:

how to install a new striper arm on ice maker GS5SHAXSL00

A:

Good afternoon.... Funny how they don't send instructions with those parts. I did locate a link that will discuss this situation in greater detail. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this link will help you to install your new stripper arm and have a nice day.

I hate how the part doesn't come with instructions. First what you want to do is remove the ice maker from the freezer. There will be 3 screws securing it to the side wall that you want to remove. Then you want to diconnect the wire harness. Remove the square plastic cover. You may have to pry it off using a flat tipped screw driver. Make sure you slide it straight off or it will bind. After removing the cover, remove the two mold attachment screws hidden past the two access ports using a Phillips head screwdriver like the image below. After un-threading the two screws, pull the module base away from the mold enough to slide and disengage the ice stripper at the back of the mold. Reverse the procedure to install the new stripper.

Hope this helps! Good luck with the stripper arm!

Q:

Why is it getting too cold in the freezer and refrigerator?

A:

To bring the temperature down, adjust the refrigerator control down to about 1.5 or 2 and adjust the freezer up to about 2 or 3. This will allow for more air flow and should help it to cycle off sooner. After this adjustment is made, give it at least 24 hours to adjust. If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.
