Hello HomeRepairScott, Fixing your appliances can be tricky, but it seems you have done a good job already! Your problem isn't so complicated though, which is a good thing for you! The reason for no threads in the holes on your burner base is simply because the screw that you have are what you call "self threading screws." If you screw the screw in carefully it should make threads in the hole of your burner base. You must be careful not to screw the screws in crooked or it will damage the screw and the holes in your burner base. i hope this help!

The screws should be self tapping screws and will make there own threads, as they are screwed into the base. If you feel a technician will be needed to install the burner base, I'm listing a site you can access. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
