I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Whirlpool range. Managemylife.com can take the mystery out of the repair. I did some research for you at this web page and found an expert answer to a similar question which may shed some light on the problem. If you decide to schedule service, and have a qualified technician to assist you, I have attached the link to searshomeservices.com. I hope this will be useful until your expert can respond.

That link for a previous answer that James posted in the above response covers a similar failure. The E1-F5 code indicates that the control board detects that the oven door lock assembly is not operating. Since the oven eventually works in the broil mode, I suspect that the oven door lock assembly is okay. You will probably need to have the electronic oven control board in the console replaced to fix this problem. I recommend that you have a service technician verify that failure and complete the repair. You can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

If you want to fix this problem yourself, then I recommend that you perform some technical tests to check the door lock circuit and the control board. A volt/ohm meter will be needed for those tests. Reply to this thread if you have that meter and you want to check that door lock circuit.
