Question and Answers

Q:

WHIRLPOOL RANGE GMC275PDS07 BROILER ELEMENT INSTALLATION ATTACHMENT PROBLEM WHILPOOL RANGE COMBO GMC275PDS07

A:

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com. I am sorry to hear of the installation issues you are experiencing with the broiler element, I know how frustrating that can be.

The part number you provided for the broiler element of 9760766 is not valid for the broiler element, that actually pulls up the bake element for the unit, not the broil element. The broil element is part number 9760771. That may be part of the problem you are experiencing.

The broiler element (assuming you have the right one) is connected to the wire harness via spade terminals. They will just pull off and no special tools like crimps or soldering iron would be required. They can be a little stubborn sometimes if they have been on there for a while. The best thing to do once you have the wires exposed through the rear panel is to grip the spade terminal and wiggle it from side to side while pulling off to unsecure it from the broiler element tab that it connects to. Once again, it will require some wiggling because it will be a tight and secure fit, but it will come off. Do one side at a time and don't mix the wires up.

I would re-verify the part number for the element you received because it appears you may have received the bake element versus the broil. If you meant bake element in your post then you're in good shape, but if you are replacing the upper broil element, the part number you provided is for the lower bake element.

Hopefully this helps and let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
