Thank you for your question.

I have checked the model number you have submitted. Usually when this washer has a problem, it will store an error code. I have added a tech sheet below that has the instruction for recalling the error codes. I recommend first reading the instructions for recalling the code. Then follow the steps. Once you have the error code look up the code in the chart provided. Once you have looked up the code in the chart, look to the right and it has the test that is needed to be done to diagnose the problem. The tests are further down the page. Please make sure to unplug the washer before attempting any service. Usually the error code is an E41. This code is usually cured by replacing the door lock assembly. I have added the instructions for replacing the door lock below. If it turns out to be a different code, please reply below and I will give you the repair instructions for repairing the washer.

A:

The E47 is also a door lock error. The PTC is part of the door lock. To confirm the door lock you can ohm the wax motor in the lock. First, remove the door lock and ohm the terminal where the pink and the red/black connect. If you do not get a reading around 1500 ohms, the lock is defective. You can also run the washer in a diagnostic test and step through to step 9. If the washer spins, I recommend replacing the door lock. please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

error code E 70 GLTF2940ES1 Frigidaire Washer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
The E70 code indicates a problem with the cold water valve. Make sure the hoses are not reversed and make sure the cold water inlet is turned on. If the screens in the valves are plugged it could cause the same error code. If all above checks are good, you will need to check the electrical connections on the valves. Unplug the washer and remove the 3 screws along the top and slide it back and lift it off. With a volt ohm meter you can check the resistance of the water valves. They should read around 800 ohm. If you are experienced at checking voltages, you should have 120 volts ac to the valves.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

This washer will normally display an error code when it will not spin. The technical information on error codes and the diagnostic test procedure is shown in the images below (6 pages). I recommend that you check for a stored error code using the information shown below. Run that diagnostic test and see if the washer will spin in that mode. This testing will probably help you determine the cause of your failure. Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components. NOTE: Some of that technical information provided below describes live voltage checks. I do not recommend that you conduct any of the live voltage checks described below unless you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely execute them . Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need it: Sears Home Services .

There is a chance that the electronic control board that you describe in your details could be causing this problem. The diagnostic tests should help you determine whether that component is bad or whether there is another failed part is causing this problem.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website if needed.

If you need more help, reply with additional details based on the technical information provided below.

A:

The speed control board is a separate component that is located beside the drive motor (see image below). The wiring to that speed control board is shown in the 6th image in the above response. Since the washer is running properly now, you could have had an intermittent wiring connection problem or a restriction in that drive circuit that prevented the motor from turning properly. Your details seem to indicate that the washer is working. If you still see that code in the memory, it is not going to affect the performance of the machine. If the washer stops and displays that code then you could have an overloaded washer, a wiring failure in that circuit, a problem with the drive motor or a bad speed control board. Reply with additional details if you need more help.
