Question and Answers

Q:

Model glgr642as4: how to

A:

I understand that you are in need of a repair manual for your Frigidaire dryer. Unfortunately, only a technician can provide a repair manual but sometimes an expert can locate one for you. It usually takes an expert about 24 to 48 hours to answer a question.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

In order to replace the belt and the front felt seals, the drum will not need to be taken out. Once the front panel is off, you can drape the belt of the drum. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

The top panel will need to be hinged open and the front panel will need to come off. Use a flash light and look for the two clips locking the top panel down located between the top and the front panel where the two meet. Use a putty knife to slip between the top and front panel and push inwards and hold pressure while lifting that corner of the top up a little and do the same for the other side. Hinge the top open and let it rest up against the wall. Remove the screws located near the top of the two side panels securing the front panel to the side panels.

Tilt the top of the front panel out enough to disconnect the door switch connections. Lift the panel up and off. You now have access to the felt seals to remove and replace.

Remember that the drum does not have to come out in order to replace the belt. Drape the belt of the drum and then you can route the belt under the motor pulley and over the idler pulley as shown in the image below. You can access the motor from the rear of the dryer after removing the access door at the back of the dryer.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
