Question and Answers

Q:

dryer is making a screeching noise GLGH1642FS0 Frigidaire Laundry center

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you.

The screeching sound is likely emitting from the idler pulley that keeps tension on the drum belt.

I recommend removing the belt and then manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW) to see if it continues to make the screeching noise. If it does make the noise with the belt off, it's not the idler and more likely something is caught between the rear drum seal and bulkhead or possibly a worn drum support roller.

Q:

Why won't my Frigidaire model GLGH1642FS0 Washer/Dryer Combo drain all of the water out?

A:

This type of problem is normally caused by a clog in the drain pump or the drain hose. Check your washer drain to make sure that it is clear. Check the drain hose for clogs or kinks. I provided technical information in the first image below regarding the drain pump. You can access the drain pump and check for a clog in this area using the information below. The second image shows a parts image and a wiring diagram for the washer portion of this laundry center. The parts diagram shows a filter (Key 40) in the coin trap. I recommend that you check this filter for lint or debris that could be preventing the washer from draining properly. If the pump is obviously running but not pumping out water, you will likely need to replace the drain pump. The part number for this pump is 137108000. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect .

If the washer drains okay but is not spinning properly, I recommend calling a service technician. The diagnosis of the motor control and timer involves live voltage checks that should only be performed by a technician.

There is not a repair manual available for this washer but the information in this answer should help you diagnose and repair the drain problem in the washer. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
