Question and Answers

Q:

What does the fault code F9 & F1 indicate on my Frigidaire gas range?

A:

Generally, F1 display implies the electronic oven control board itself has detected an internal malfunction. F9 implies the control board has detected a latch motor assembly problem.

F1 can also be caused by:

  • Shorted key pad and the fix is to replace the control board
  • The control's internal checksum may have become corrupted and the fix is to try disconnecting the power to the range for 30 seconds and wait. Reapply power and if the fault returns upon power-up, replace the control board.
  • The oven sensor may have gone bad.

F9 can be caused by:

  • Failed motor door latch assembly
  • Wiring connection in the motor latch circuit

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.

Q:

I have a Frigidaire Gas Range model GLGFS66ASC. The display shows F9, the door is not locked. I can not clear it. What should I do?

A:

The F9 code indicates a problem in the latch circuit. It can be caused by a defective door light switch, door latch switch, or the electric oven control(EOC).

The F1 code indicates either the oven temperature sensor or the EOC has failed.

These parts need to be tested with a volt/ohm meter to confirm which one is causing the problem. As you can see the EOC is the only common link between the 2 codes. I suspect the EOC has failed.
