Question and Answers

Q:

error e5b gleq2152ee0

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. We, at Sears, do value your business.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the dryer.   I see that you are getting an error code of e5b.

Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Whirlpool Dryer model number gleq2152ee0.

E5B states Heater fault - Temperature reading of control thermistor has not changed in a certain amount of time.

SOLUTION:
Position cycle selector to NORMAL, temperature to HIGH HEAT and touch START.  Measure voltage across terminals on relay RL2 (heater relay) on electronic control.  If meter reads 240 Volts on electric models and 120 Volts on gas models, replace electronic control.  If meter reads zereo, remove power from dryer.  Disconnect wire going to NO terminal on the relay RL2.  Reconnect power and measure voltage drop between terminal COM on relay RL2 and neutral.  If meter reads zero, wire between incoming line and  relay RL2 is open.  If meter reads 120Volts, check the rest of the heater circuit.

We never recommend using refurbished parts because they are not adequate with the same power.  We only recommend using original parts.

Hi Donna,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I am including the tech sheet for your dryer in the images below. Make sure you were using the correct procedure to recall the error codes. There are a couple of different ones for this type of dryer, but only one that works correctly. The error codes are extremely important in the diagnosis of this type of dryer. This dryer has a way to recall error codes. If the control detects a problem it will identify it with an error code. I am including this information in a set of images below.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or purchase any parts needed for your Frigidaire model number GLEQ2152EE0 dryer .

Please perform the diagnostic tests detailed here and report back with your findings. Be sure to record any failures and when they occur along with any error codes that are displayed.

Thanks for the diagram. I was able to get a code but I don't know what it means. E6B. I don't have a volt meter. I performed the function test and everything checked out fine.

Also, the problem that started this was no heat and the dryer shut off after 10 minutes. Sorry, I forgot to put that in my original question. Thanks

Donna,

According to the model number you gave me this washer has a digital display (calculator type), so I assume you are not misreading the error code (counting flashing lights). The E68 error indicates that one of the keys (buttons) is stuck closed (active). It is possible that the temperature button is stuck in the no heat selection and this would explain the error and the no heat you mentioned. Also, in the function sequence test the control would force heat. So, if the heat came on during the function sequence test we can assume that the heat circuit is okay.

With what you have told me it is likely that you need to replace the main control. One thing you can try before replacing the control is taking the console apart to see if you can free the button. I am including a set of images below that demonstrate disassembly of a dryer like yours. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. Note: There are lots of parts inside the console that will come flying out when you remove the control. Be careful during its removal and remember where everything goes.

I am also including a link below that you may use to purchase the control board for your dryer.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

Landell, The heating element was broken. I replaced it and put the dryer back together with everything lining up. The dryer heated up and everything was fine for one load. On the second load, the drum won't turn at all. Any thoughts?

A:

Donna,

Make sure that one of the breakers for your dryer is not tripped, this dryer must have 2 legs of 120 volts to run and heat, and if the motor leg is tripped the dryer will heat but will not run. The other things that can cause this are a blown thermal limiter, a bad control, faulty door switch, or bad wiring. The remaining checks will require a volt/ohm meter. You can purchase a meter at most major retailers including Sears for around $20.00.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.
