Question and Answers

Q:

My GE dishwasher will not start GLD5560L00SS Ge Dishwasher

A:

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your dishwasher. I know that this can be very frustrating but I am happy to help. Can you select a cycle, the lights on the console light up, but it will not run? If the lights do work, you will need to check the voltage going to the motor in order to have a direction to head into. The wires going to the motor should read 120 volts when the unit is set to a wash cycle. If you do not show 120 volts going to the motor, I suspect a faulty control board or wiring harness problem. If however, the lights on the console are not working, you will to be sure the circuit breakers are not tripped or if the outlet is faulty. Please reply back with further details and from there I will be happy to continue assisting you.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You did not indicate if the drain pump will run or hum. If the drain pump is not running, it could have faulty drain pump or a faulty control board. If the drain pump is humming, it could be jammed. If the drain pump is running, it could have a blockage in the drain hose between the drain pump and where it connects under the sink.

The voltage supply to the drain pump will need to be measure when it's in a drain cycle. Pressing the Start/Reset button for a second time after starting the dishwasher should cause the drain pump to operate at which time the voltage can be measured at the drain pump.

I added several images below that will be helpful in diagnosing the failure.
