Question and Answers

Q:

why wont my dishwasher turn on?

A:

First thing you should no is that this particular dishwasher has no fuse.

From the description you give the problem will most likely be with the door switch or the control board.

The first image below is a wiring diagram and this will help you see where the possible problems might be.

You will need to access the control in the console and be able to read voltage at the control. If you don't have a volt/ohm meter are know how to use one then this will be a difficult problem to diagnose. Still it would be worth a shot at accessing the control and checking connections.

You say the voltage is okay but be sure the wire nuts at the dishwasher junction box are tight. When things suddenly go dead a bad connection is always a possibility. Make sure the wire nuts are tight.

The main connection to check if there are no lights are display is the CN5 connector with a couple of black wires and a white wire. Across the black and white wire should be 120 volts. Use extreme caution if you check this and only if you are comfortable with a meter.

Remember to turn the power to the dishwasher off while accessing the control and door switch.

The 2nd image will show you how to access the main control.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
