There could be 1 of 3 possible failures preventing your dishwasher from starting. The key panel/console could have a stuck/shorted key pad, 1 of the 2 door switches is not closing when the door is shut and latched, or a failed control board. Most likely the door latch assembly is not closing one of the door switches when the door is shut in order for the control to start the dishwasher. Try opening and shutting the door firmly and see it will start. If it fails to start I recommend calling a service technician. If this dishwasher is 9 years old or older, you may want to consider replacing it. The life expectancy of your average dishwasher is 9 years.
