Your symptoms indicate that the infinite burner switch (part 9759474) is bad. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. This is a repair that you can complete yourself if you are able to safely follow these steps:

  1. Shut off the house circuit breakers for the cook top to completely disconnect electrical power.
  2. Pull the knob off of the top of that burner switch.
  3. Pull the cook top out of the counter and remove that burner box that is under the glass top.
  4. Carefully transfer the wires from the old burner switch to the new one.
  5. Remove the old burner switch and mount the new one on the cook top.
  6. Reassemble the cook top and install it back in the counter.

If you need more help with this repair, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
