Link works fine. I suspect the drain pump is somehow involved. Diagrams for follow up are too small to use. Any links to our resources?

Thank you for contacting ManageMyLife.com regarding the F2 error code on your Whirlpool Duet washer. I see Joseph provided you with some great information. I'm happy to help you today. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off an F/02 will flash.

  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
  • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
  • If the above information doesn't help, then the pump will need to be replaced.

I provided you with a direct link to the service manual for this washer. Page 3-10 has information on checking and clearing out the pump filter. Page 4-4 of the manual has the instructions for removing the toe panel.  Page 4-6 of the manual has the instructions for removing the pump.

The part number for the pump is 280187 and can be found at Sears PartsDirect.

If you do not feel comfortable repairing this issue yourself, service can be scheduled at Sears Home Services.

I really hope this information helps you today. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Hello,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

You should hear a click on the CCU when you plug the washer in. Try this; plug a hair dryer or other small appliance into the outlet you use for the washer. If this appliance functions we know you have power at the outlet. Leave the washer unplugged, and remove the toe panel. Locate the motor control board (MCU) and disconnect the MI3 connector (3 small blue wires). Leave MI3 disconnected, plug the washer back into the outlet and wait 30 seconds. Press the power button, if the lights come on you will need to replace the MCU.

If the lights do not come on you will need to make some additional checks some of which may require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have a meter and are confident in your ability to safely perform these checks, reply to this post and I will be happy to assist you in any way I can.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

OK It is difficult to access the MCU through the toe panel. The connection is in the back of the unit. It was easier to take off the top panel than the back and expose the CCU instead. There is a Ml3 connection on the CCU. I disconnected that, plugged the washer back in, waited 30 seconds, pressed the power button and nothing happened. I do have access to an ohm/volt meter if that becomes necessary. Thanks for your assistance, Christina

Hi Christina, At this point voltage checks will need to be made. WORKING WITH LIVE ELECTRICAL CURRENT CAN BE VERY HAZARDOUS AND POSSIBLY DEADLY. DO NOT ATTEMPT THESE MEASUREMENTS WITHOUT THE PROPER TOOLS AND SAFEGUARDS. IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN PERFORM THESE CHECKS SAFELY AND COMPETENTLY, REFER THIS WORK TO A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL. First check on the CCU: IF2 1 to 2 for volts AC. This should read 120vac +/- 10%. If this reading is correct, there are a couple of other things to check before we condemn the CCU. I am including a wiring diagram below. I have marked the connection you will be checking for voltage (red) and the connections you will be removing (green). If you have 120vac at IF2 you will need to remove the connections marked in green one at a time and use the same method you used when you checked MI3. 1. UNPLUG THE WASHER. 2. Unplug the connector from the CCU. 3. Plug the CCU back in and wait 30 seconds. 4. Try to power the washer on. These connectors will need to be removed one at a time from the CCU and the sequence must be followed for each individual connector. Once you remove the connector, LEAVE IT UNPLUGGED. Do not plug each one back in until all of them have been removed. We are trying to determine if one of the DC components is shorted out drawing down the DC voltage to the CCU. Most likely the CCU will need to be replaced, but it is possible that one of the DC components will need to be replaced as well. If at some point the console lights up, the last component that was removed will need to be replaced. You most likely will need to replace the component and the CCU, but this cannot be determined until this procedure is completed. If the console never lights up you will most likely need to replace the CCU. I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. Thanks again for using Manage My Life. Landell

I believe I have done this test correctly, as long as there isnt a specific sequence to detach the connectors by. If the machine never powers up am I to assume that the CCU is in fact bad?
