Question and Answers

Q:

Dishwasher not getting water. ghda485n10cs

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dishwasher is not getting water.

The float assembly or water valve is defective.

ou should be able to check the float yourself. With the door open you will see the float on the left hand side. This is the device that prevents the dishwasher from overfilling with water, just in case the drain pump fails or the timer is advanced to another fill cycle after the unit has already filled.

You will need to remove the single screw that holds the float cover in position & remove the cover. You should now be able to check that the float moves freely up & down. It usually will only move about a half inch in either direction. Be sure not to pull up on the float too hard. You should also be able to hear the click of the float switch which is right below the float. The float should be in the down position for proper operation.

The water valve is located behind the lower inspection panel on the left hand side. I do not recommend you removing this panel. With the timer set to the beginning of a cycle you should be able to hear the hum or buzz from the water valve. Be sure the water supply to the dishwasher is turned on under the sink.

If your dishwasher is still not filling after making these checks I would recommend calling a service technician to diagnose & repair.

Q:

No water going into dishwasher Ghda485n10cs Ge Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your dishwasher. Upon researching modelGhda485n10cs; the valve can be getting voltage but if it has failed it won’t open. Check the ohms it should be between 750-1200. The valve could need to be replaced being that it is the only part controlling the water into the unit.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

I fixed it. It was the relay board. Not enough voltage tho the solenoid valve. I put 120 vac across the coil and the valve worked fine. I replaced both the control relay and tactical boards.

I pulled the valve out and checked and the ohms are in the range you specify. What is the relay board he's talking about? I can't find any of the electrical parts on your schematics. If the valve is fine what else could it be?
