Question and Answers

Q:

Microwave internal Fan Not Running GH7208XRS1 Whirlpool Microwave hood combo

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I know how much a time saver a microwave is and know you want to get it working quickly. In this case, I would suggest you have a qualified technician test or replace the unit.

Unfortunately, we cannot give advice on repairing or troubleshooting the microwave because they contain high voltage internal components that can retain lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is off. So for safety reasons I would recommend having this repair done by a qualified technician. You can schedule service at www.Searshomeservices.com

Thank you for your understanding on the situation. Have a great day.

Q:

Microwave display does not illuminate

A:

I can appreciate your concern over your microwaves' blank display.  This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.  I would offer caution if you're thinking of attempting repairs yourself.
Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged.  I have located a link that will discuss your situation in more detail.
Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar.Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction.  If you feel you would need further assistance,  or if you feel like you would be more comfortable
having an expert resolve your issue, I would strongly recommend Sears Home Service.com.  Click here to open to
their page for home service.  I hope this will help you and have a nice day.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your microwave. The problem that you are having is most likely due to the relay board malfunctioning. However, microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as , can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service. It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. If you would like to schedule service, just click on this link: Sears Home Services . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Henry & AnneJ, Thank you for your responses I just want to be clear on one point. The microwave still functions... in other words, you can heat/cook with it You just need to be careful when entering the cook time as you can not read the display Do you still think this is a door switch issue?

A:

No the unit will not function at all if the door swtich is failing or has failed. The display is part of the control board. From what it sounds like the lights in the display have shorted. This won't affect the microwave in anything other then the problem you have.
