Q:

wont heat GGW9250PW3 Whirlpool Residential dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when the dryer won't heat.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Whirlpool Dryer model number GGW9250PW3.

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

1.  Unplug the dryer.   Move it out from the wall as far as the dryer vent will allow.
1.  Clean out the lint trap and the cutct work.   It is best to get a nice long brush so that you can clean it out the lint trap quite often.
2.  Remove the exhaust hose from the back of the dryer.  Clean it also thouroughly.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that go oustside the house which allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Clean the inside of the dryer itself.   Remove all lint by a brush or vacuum.
6.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

All items can be checked with a volt meter for continuity.

When a gas dryer isn't heating there are a few things to look at.

NOTE: You should not perform this live voltage check unless you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely execute it.

In the burner system you have

1.  The ignitor key number 4 on burner page

2.  The pair of coils 13 & 14 on burner page

Behind the blower there is

3.  The thermistor key number 42 on blower page

4.  The thermal fuse  key number 59 on blower page.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

The gas line inside the dryer is part of the gas valve.   If you look at the picture and see key number 10.  You will get all of that which is in the dotted square box.

I have the picture below to click on and see.

The knob should pull straight off. Behind the knob is a bezel that turns with the know and points out which cycle you will run. I suspect the bezel is broken. I'd suggest you first pull the knob straight off and check the bezel. The 8519406 bezel can be obtained from the following link; Whirlpool model GGW9250PW3 gas dryer Bezel .

Ok...I was able to pull the knob off, and went to the link to view a bezel. The bezel appears to be unbroken, unless one of the prongs is broken behind the black gear with the spring and ball bearing above the gear. How would I check further?

If the knob turns but the bezel doesn't then most likely one of the bezel clips have broken. Can you pull the bezel straight off?

No I can't. The gear is in the way. Question: When I clicked the link to the bezel replacement part it looked like the clear plastic cover. Even in the picture the bezel looked like it would be a stationary peice. So how would the bezel turn?
