Q:

my dryer runs fine but does not heat up GGW9200LL1 Whirlpool Residential dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when the dryer isn't heating up.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Whirlpool model number GGW9200LL1.

The first thing to do on all dryers is to remind and check your lint screen by pulling it out and cleaning down inside, then check the vents going out of the house and making sure it is not clogged and make sure it is really clean.   Fire hazzards if you don't.

Looking at your gas dryer when it comes to heating.   First thing is to look and verify the ignitor is lighting.   If yes good if not then you know where to begin and get it replaced.

Next when it comes to heating.   Look on the back side of the blower.  There you will see 2 types of thermostats screwed in.   1 is Thermistor and the other 1 is a Thermal Fuse.   Both of these can be checked with a meter for continuity.

I have listed below the items when you find out which parts you need.  Just click on them please.

Q:

I'm getting a E1 error on my Whirlpool Gas dryer model GGW9200LL1, which thermostat do I need?

A:

The error code "F1" implies an open thermistor or an open thermistor circuit. The thermistor is located on the blower housing. It can be accessed for testing by removing the lower access panel below the door. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the lower access panel. See images below for instructions how to access the thermistor and how to test it. The thermistor will have to be disconnected and tested for resistance with an OHM meter and compared to the thermistor chart in the image below. At room temperature of 80 degrees the thermistor should have a resistance measurement of approximately 9.2k ohms. If it does not measure any resistance, replace the thermistor. The thermistor is part #8577274 which can be ordered and shipped to you from Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
