Hi,

Thank you for your question. It is concerning when the refrigerator is not functioning correctly. With the 88 88 showing on the display you are getting a error code. If the icemaker quit working, on this refrigerator the icemaker is the front component in the refrigerator, in other words it is the controlling device. I am giving you the codes. Unplug the refrigerator and reconnect it. The code should come up and then you will know what the processor is seeing or not seeing. Front panel access to the codes is also on the chart but I would like to do a hard restart to try to clear the codes, by disconnection from electricity.
The icemaker is still plugged into the harness, correct. Just turn the icemaker off at the icemaker itself.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with the refrigerator. The information you have received is very good. I see you have already tried to reset the control by disconnecting the power and then reconnecting it. To return the display to normal operation simultaneously press the energy saver and alarm/light pads for 8 seconds. Now, if there is a problem with the unit, this will not correct the problem. In this case, I recommend having a technician check and make the repair. This is a very complex model. I'm listing a site you can access, to schedule a tech to come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services I hope this will help you.

Which part on my GE Model #GFSS6KKYASS controls the compressor's cooling fan?

A:

It can be a real headache when the compressor to your refrigerator malfunctions. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

Thank you for your question. If the compressor is running but not the condenser motor, the problem could be with the control board # WR55X10955 or the motor # WR13X10740 itself. Some voltage checks will need to be made to determine, which part has failed. This is a very complex model and I would strongly recommend having a technician make these checks and repair. I'm listing a site you can access, to schedule a tech to come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will assist you further.
