A:

The first thing to check is the water pressure to your home. Water pressure (100 – 120 PSI and above) can cause refrigerator water valve not to seat properly making the water dispenser drip and may even flood.

  • The water supply line attaches to your refrigerator at a solenoid valve (water valve). The valve has two solenoid coils, one for the icemaker and one for the water dispenser. When the water does not turn off completely at the dispenser it is because the water dispenser section of the solenoid valve has failed. This part will need replacement.
