Question and Answers

Q:

My garage door, Genie Model Number-GG350L, does not open unless I push it with my hands. Gennie GCG350L, 1/2 HP, 120V, 5 AMP

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Genie garage door opener model GCG350L. I am so sorry doesn’t open without assistance. I will be happy to help you with this. I have included the link below for you to view the owner’s manual online in case you don’t have a copy.

The manufacturer indicates that if the door starts up but does not finish opening you should inspect the door, the opener and springs. You should inspect them to make sure they are properly lubricated and the door is balanced. The door balance test is on page 22 of the manual. If the door is out of balance have it serviced by a technician. This is not a do-it-your repair.

Next check the “Open” limit switch and “Open Force” adjustment.  Make sure the carriage is engaged. If there are broken parts on the carriage you should replace it.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death. If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.
