Question and Answers

Q:

Refrigerator not cold, freezer is fine GC5SHEXNB00 Whirlpool Side by side refrigerator

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Sorry to hear of the issue you are experiencing in the Whirlpool refrigerator, I know how frustrating that is to have occur.
Since the refrigerator compartment derives all its cool air from the freezer, and the freezer appears to be okay, that will help us in narrowing down the issue.
I am suspecting that what you hear "humming" is the evaporator fan motor within the freezer compartment that circulates the chilled air into the refrigerator, which is why the refrigerator is warming, and the freezer ice cream is softening (lack of air flow). That would be the first thing I would recommend to check.
Outside of that, there is a thermistor (temp thermostat) within the refrigerator compartment that could be causing the issue, or the electronic control board within the controls section could be causing the issue. With either of these parts, a multimeter would be required to check the part.
These would be the most likely parts to consider with the symptom you are having. If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.
Hope this helps out and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

How to tighten handles on Whirlpool refrigerator

A:

Loose handles on refrigerator doors become a quick hassle fast. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful. Have a nice day!

A:

Thank you for your question about your Whirlpool refrigerator model # GC5SHEXNB00. I will be glad to help you with the door handle being loose.

Yadiar has given you a good answer for the problem, and I can provide additional information that may also help.

I have attached an image that shows the door handle breakdown. Note that there are two set of screws that keep the handle in place. One set on the handle and one set on the door facing that holds the handle clip. You should tighten both sets (but do not over tighten either of them as you could damage the threads. To remove handles just pull straight up, when they release pull them away from door frame to access the screws.

If you need additional help feel free to contact us again.

Thanks Ron H.
