Q:

Whirlpool Freezer/Refrigerator forming ice at the bottom of freezer

A:

I understand your Whirlpool Freezer/Refrigerator is forming sheets of ice and you would like to fix this problem. I found a couple of links while searching Manage My Life. I found a link that will take you to a question similar to the one you asked, the other link will give you information on a "garage kit" for you Freezer/Refrigerator. I'm attaching both links below, I hope this helps!!!!!!!!

I know it can be irritating when you have to remove a sheet of ice, from the freezer floor. The information you have received is good but it seems your problem is, a little different. This appears to be a stopped up (frozen) drain. To clear the drain, the back panel in the freezer will need to be taken out. First disconnect power from the unit and then remove everything in the freezer, so the back panel can be removed. I'm sending you a picture with instructions, to remove the panel. With the panel off, you will see the evaporator and under it the drain tray. Remove the ice from the tray and you will then be able to see the drain hole. Use hot water to clear the ice out of the drain hole. This can take awhile, depending on how deep the ice has gone. You can access a manual on this site, by clicking on the manuals and then entering the model number. If you would like more assistance, additional details will be helpful.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
