Q:

Why does my washer model FWT449GFS2 leak from the low part of the front door?

A:

You don't specify but if it leaks when you open the door then there is a fix for this.

The boot allows water to accumulate in the lower part of the boot and when the door is open it drips or leaks down the front panel and ends up on the floor.

The fix for this is to replace the boot. The replacement boot has drain holes so the water does not accumulate and leak. The part number for the replacement boot/bellows is 5303937187 and is available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

The leak can also be from a poor fit between the bottom of the door and the boot. The boot should be smooth and if you see wrinkles then the wrinkles can prevent a good seal and the boot will need to be replaced. The wrinkles on the boot will prevent a good seal.

If there is a poor fit across the bottom of the door against the boot then you can try to gently tweak the door by pushing out on the top of the door and pushing in on the bottom and recheck the fit across the bottom.

The last potential problem is the door itself has separated. The image below shows a picture of the door and how it is constructed. Some doors could separate and allow a leak. The image also shows the procedure for repairing this but I recommend a technician do this repair.

I hope this information helps to resolve your problem.

How do I install the timer knob for my Frigidaire washer?

A:

No tools necessary. Simply turn old knob to the left or counter clockwise and it will disengage. Slip on the new part and turn to right or clockwise until it is tight. 2 minute project.
