Q:

Dryer won't start FSE748GFS1 Frigidaire Frigidaire/stack dryer - p5995326351

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you.

The failure could be the timer, door switch or motor. The timer must close contact B to C in order to supply voltage to the motor. When start is pressed/turned, it completes the neutral path from the door switch to the motor and it should start providing the timer is completing the voltage supply to the motor. If the door switch is faulty, the path of neutral will not be completed to the start switch and motor.

Try pushing the door switch in with the door open to see if the light turns off. If the inside light does not turn off with the door switch pushed in, then your failure is likely caused by the door switch.

You can pull the tan or orange/black wire off and check for continuity from the door switch leads for the orange/black to the tan wire with the door switch button pushed in. If you have continuity (measure near zero ohms with a volt/ohm meter) through these leads, then the door switch is okay. If you measure infinite resistance through these leads with the door button depressed, then the switch is bad and will need to be replaced.

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your dryer model FSE748GFS1; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist. Before you replace or order any parts, I suggest checking the power supply to the dryer.  If your dryer worked before moving it to a new location where it now will not heat there may be a power supply issue. Because this is an electric dryer it requires 240 volts ac. It will start and run with only half that voltage supplied but will not heat. Your breakers are double trip breakers and there are two breakers that are together and supply the full 240 volts.  Find you breaker panel and find the dryer breakers (hopefully they are marked) Turn them both off until they click, then back on. Now test your dryer for heating.  I hope this helps, if you still have no heat reply back with the details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.
