Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when having trouble with the heat of the dyer.

To test all the parts of the dyer.  Heating, element, thermal cut off switch, thermal fuse.   Take a meter and see if you have power going in and out.   If the fuses are open good and if closed they are bad.   Make sure while doing all of this to check your Lint screen area to have it cleaned and the tube where it goes out the wall.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Q:

I own a Frigidaire stackable dryer, the on/off knob broke off, so I began to turn t on with a pliers. Now the pliers will not turn it on.

A:

The old pliers trick does usually stop working after awhile. If you can add the model number for your dryer to this post the expert can help with what is needed for repair. If parts are needed you can also enter the model number in the Sears Parts Direct link below.

I also took off the knob next to it, attached it and that still does not turn on the dryer. It moves to the right, but the dryer does not turn on.

Hi Kathryn,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I am sorry you are having problems with your dryer.

From your description you likely have an issue with your timer or push to start switch. The diagnosis of this issue will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have an ohm/volt meter and are confident in your technical abilities, please reply below and I will be happy to give you the checks.

I highly recommend having a trained service technician evaluate this problem. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.
