Thank you for your question. As already mentioned, the model number is needed for me to give you a precise answer. However I will provide you with some general information. This is for a top mount refrigerator. For water to be getting on the shelves in the fresh food section, it is coming from the freezer evaporator drain tube, or it is coming from the air baffle that is in between the freezer and the fresh food sections. Is there frost on the rear panel of the freezer section? If so, the frost could migrate thru the air baffle and melt on the shelf. But in most cases though, it is the drain tube. If you respond, to this thread, with your model number I will assist you with parts and or troubleshooting.

Splendid, thank you. I thought i was imagining things when i talked to an agent on the phone who disputed that there is not a plastic tube that is about 1/8 dia in a u-shape suspended by 3 prongs. Water does drip intermittently lately now that warmer weather is here. The model # is Fridigiaire FRT 8G6FB4, made in July 2007. Should i turn up the freeezer to a not so cold ?

The refrigerator will keep leaking. There is a drain kit that routes the drain hose to the outside and down the rear of the refrigerator . It will require cutting holes in the rear of the refrigerator but that will solve the problem. The kit usually cost around 50 dollars. If you want it installed, it would be best installed by a Sears professional.

Well, i tried to do so with my camera phone, but it shows up with blurry red and blue images, so cant do. This tube is supported by 3 plastic prongs that are wholly part of the larger plastic vessel that incorporates the light bulb. It is about 6" long and is U shaped and is visible from the front. Each end fits into tiny holes on both ends. That is all i can say.

I checked the portal that feeds the cold air in from the freezer to the fridge, it is not obstructed in any way. I took the back panel off the freezer in the back and checked to make sure no ice build up and there was none. So moisture continues to condense into the fridge, my temporary solution ts to put a sponge under where the dripping is occuring. Also, i have kenmore dryer that i need to get a dryer knob. Model 86980100, can you locate the part # for this. It is a black round knob about 3 in diameter.

The control box is what the light bulb is mounted into. You have a leak from the drain hose in the freezer and there is a kit to fix the problem. I will require the use of a drill and externial attachemet of drain hose. The link is for the knob on the dryer.

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your refrigerator. Unfortunately without a model number I can't access any information about your refrigerator. However, if this is a top mount (freezer on top) refrigerator the reason will be a stopped up drain. Water will leak into the refrigerator when the drain system freezes up. Every time the unit goes into a defrost cycle, water will run down into the refrigerator, instead of down the drain. To clear the drain, remove everything in the freezer so the back panel can be removed. With the panel removed, you will see the evaporator coil and directly under the coil is the drain trough (pan). The trough will probably be full of ice that will need to be removed. With the ice out of the trough, you will be able to see the drain hole which will be plugged with ice. Use hot water to clear the drain hole. Keep working the hot water into the hole and wiping the excess water. This can take quite awhile depending on how deep the ice is. This will need to be done until you get a good water flow down to the bottom drain pan. With the drain system clear, water should stop leaking in the refrigerator. For specific information about your refrigerator, you can resubmit your question with more details and please include a complete model number.
