Question and Answers

Q:

Frig is running but not getting cold. Freezer is cold and working fine. FRT18L4FW3 Frigidaire Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

I am sorry to hear about the warming fridge, I know how frustrating that is, hopefully I can help.

The compressor is what generates the cold air and then cycles it into the freezer. From there, the freezer gives chilled air into the refrigerator when needed. So if your freezer is working fine, it sounds like something is preventing the chilled air from making it into the refrigerator. Do you have any ice accumulation inside the freezer on the walls that could be blocking the vent into the refrigerator? If so, you could have a defrost issue occurring inside the freezer. If not, then I would suspect we have a faulty thermostat within the control section of the refrigerator behind the knob. The thermostat will sense the temp inside of the refrigerator and tell the damper when to open and close.

Before replacing the thermostat, make sure you also don't have any blockage of the vent within the freezer section and you can also adjust the damper control knob in the freezer to see if that makes any difference. Have you tried adjusting the temp knob in the refrigerator? If all that checks out, then I would presume a thermostat would be called for.

For convenience, I have included a blue link below to view and purchase the thermostat for this model if needed. Just click the blue link to be directed to PartsDirect.

Q:

My Frigidaire (new) required a Garage Kit. I got the kit. Where do I install it? Inside or behind?

A:

The kit you received is to keep your refrigerator working in temperatures under 55 degrees. It mounts inside the control panel inside your refrigerator. Look closely in the package the kit came in. There should be installation instructions with it.

I am sending you an image that shows the kit installed. Hope this helps.
