Question and Answers

Q:

how do i change the defrost thermostat FRT18H6CSB2 Frigidaire Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you in locating the instructions to replace the thermostat in your refrigerator.

I found a video that will walk you through the repair. If you do not feel comfortable installing this part yourself, service can be scheduled atSears Home Services.

To replace the timer, drop the control housing in the refrigerator section to access the timer. With the housing down you will be able to see the timer. Disconnect the harness connector, remove the timer and replace it with #215846602. To remove the element and defrost thermostat, the back cover panel in the freezer will have to be removed. With the panel removed, you will see the evaporator. The thermostat will be mounted to it, at the top right and the element is mounted directly under it. Disconnect the 2 wires on both the thermostat and element and you can remove them. The new element # 5303918208 and thermostat # 5303918202 should fit back, exactly like the original parts.
