Question and Answers

Why has the ice maker in my Frigidaire gallery model #FRS26ZSEB3 quit making ice?

From your description it sounds like the freezer is not defrosting. When it doesn't defrost the temperature will rise, which can stop the icemaker from working. When you defrost it and it works for a few days, it would be about normal, if this is happening. If you notice that frost is building on the back wall, this will be the problem. If this is happening, there is a defrost timer located at the bottom left of the cabinet behind the grill (# 23 in the picture). Turn the dial on the timer slowly until it makes a click and the unit quits. In a few minutes you should hear a sizzling or popping noise, which will indicate the heat element is on. This will indicate the timer is not advancing and will need to be replaced. If nothing happens, the element and bi-metal thermostat will need to be checked. A technician may be needed for these checks. If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.
