Question and Answers

Q:

What part is needed to correct this defrost problem?

A:

The next time you notice it starting to frost up, you will need to put this refrigerator into a manual defrost. To activate a manual defrost, press the light switch 5 times in 6 seconds. The unit should stop running and you should hear a popping or hissing type noise shortly. If you hear this noise it means the defrost board (ADC) is not advancing and will need to be replaced. If the unit does not shut off, when you activate the switch 5 times, it also means the board # 241508001 will need to be replaced. If it does shut off but you never hear any noise, the element is not coming on and this could be a problem with either the bi-metal or the element. A technician may be needed to make this check.
