Question and Answers

Q:

Is their a way to get the ice maker to put out ice cubes, it only makes crushed ice on both sides FRS26LH5DS0 Frigidaire Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for your question. There is a solenoid that has to be energized to get cubed ice. This solenoid will lift a plunger, that in turn lifts an arm (rod), connected to a gate in the crusher housing. If this gate doesn't open, the cubes will go through the crusher assembly. This solenoid can freeze sometimes causing it to stick or it may not be getting any voltage to it. You can check if it's stuck, by trying to lift the solenoid actuator (# 45c). It should lift easily. Remove the bucket and you will be able to see the actuator. The arm (# 46) fits in it. If the actuator is stuck, the solenoid assembly (# 45) will need to be replaced. If it does move easily, then the solenoid may not be getting voltage to it. Some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks.
