Q:

model # FRS26LF8CS1. Freezes for a few days and then stops for 1/2 to a full day and then freezes again. It's been cycling like this for a few weeks now.

Good afternoon.... I can understand your concern and you've done a good job at trying to get to the bottom of this problem. Sandy was a disaster for so many people. I will forward your question to an expert who will investigate the matter further and get back to you. You will hear from them within two business days if not sooner. It may be a little longer due to the Holidays. Until you hear from us, have a nice day.

Hi,

Thank you for asking this question and allow me to answer it this way.

The problem sound like it could be the thermostat but also there is a ADC board involved that get the voltage from the thermostat and turns on and off the compressor and the heater. The heater should be coming on around every 11 to 18 hours. This ADC board is electronic and if there was a power shortage and bouncing power, the board could have become damaged and it causing the problem.
This board is located in the fresh food section, behind the panel on the left hand side wall. Here is a link if this is the needed part. Frigidaire ADC board

I hope this answer is useful and that it helps you correct the problem with your appliance.
Thank you for using ManageMyLife.

Q:

Does anyone have instruction to replace water actuator? Are any special tools needed?

A:

Self repairs can save money if you are pretty handy and have good instructions. While you wait for the expert to review your model, you can check a similar question to give some idea of what is involved. If you decide you prefer to have an experienced technician make repairs, an option is to visit Sears Home Services and use the handy scheduler. I attached both links below. Hope this helps!
