Q:

Refrigerator not cooling or freezing FRS26KW3AW6 Frigidaire Side-by-side refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

Normally when the compressor won’t kick on at all it’s the starter relay and capacitor that’s on the compressor. If you look at the compressor on the left hand side you should see a little box. That is where the relay and cap is at.

If you can remove it; one of the signs it’s bad, is if you shake it and hear something rattling around it would need to be replaced. Part number for the starter relay is 5304491941, and the capacitor is 5304464438.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

Refrigerator is freezing FRS26KW3AW6

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your refrigerator is freezing. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I have found information to assist you.

I have found that there could be three parts that could cause freezing. The parts are: temperature thermostat, and the damper assembly.

The proper tests will need to be made in order to determine which part to replace.

Test for the temperature control 240383703: Try rotating the control thermostat all the way from stop to stop and listen for a click. If you hear a click then it is ok. If not, then you will need to test the part with an OHM for continuity. It should have continuity when it is cooling.

If the refrigerator is freezing everything then the damper control maybe stuck or broken. You may need to replace the damper control. Click here for the damper. This damper comes with the temperature control because it is recommended to replace both parts.
