From the description you give the problem might be the timer, drain pump or even lid switch.

If the washer will fill and agitate then the motor is most likely okay.

If the washer will agitate but not drain try turning the timer slowly and see if the drain pump will come on.

Even if there is a belt, pulley or brake problem I would expect the pump to run and drain the water out.

Check the pump first and let me know what you find. If you have an ohm meter then you could check the pump winding for continuity. Remember to unplug the washer first. If you don't have a meter the washer can be run with the front panel off. You should be able to tell if the pump is operating. If it is humming but not working perhaps there is something in the hose like a missing sock.
