Why is my Frigidaire dryer making a grinding noise?

From what you’re describing on this model I suspect the front felt or rear bearing, possibly both. You will need to remove the top panel to inspect for wear. In the parts image #24 is the front bearing & #32 is the rear bearing. I have provided you with the instructions from the service manual in the image below. Felt bearing part number; 5303937182, rear bearing kit 5303281153.
