Q:

Has power, but nothing is working. #FKCH17F7HWC

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model FKCH17F7HWC; a surge could burn out the board. By the symptoms you indicated the board could be out. It could do it to any appliance that has an electronic board.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Thanks for your response. Am I correct in understanding that there are two control boards in this unit, one for the refrigerator and one for the freezer? Neither one works and I think I saw an indication that there are two part numbers for control boards in this thing. Does it make sense that both boards could fail if only the freezer was working when the power surge happened? Thanks again. Paul

Q:

Changing the Frigidare FKCH17F7HWC door to left side open Hinge question FKCH17F7HWC

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you.

Based on the diagram and records it does not look like the doors can be reversed. The hinge would have a separate part number for the hinge pin if it was able to be reversed. In this case the hinge pin is directly attached to the hinge.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

This door is clearly able to have the door open on the left side. All the holes for changing it over are there. The problem is the pin on the bottom hinge is fixed. So, is there a part from this or a later /similar model that I can purchase to allow the door to be switched over?

Q:

FRIGIDAIRE (MODEL# FKCH17F7HWC) NOT COOLING OR FREEZING FKCH17F7HWC Frigidaire Freezer-refrigerator

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when you are having trouble with the refrigerator not working correctly.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your model number fkch17f7hwc.

I will be glad in looking at this model to help out.  First thing always is to make sure the doors are sealing well.  That you hear that vacuum seal when open and closed.  Secondly that you hear the motor running and you say you do.  Next after that, for the refrigerator my idea is your model hear has two control boards that does the cooling.   You have a computer board for the refrigerator and one for the freezer.   I left a link below for you to see the two boards.

control board for freezer per model FKCH17F7HWC

control board for refrigerator per model FKCH17F7HWC

Sorry but as long as the refrigerator is running that I see nothing else it can be.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I need to change the door on this model to open on the left side. The bottom of the door hinge seems to have a fixed hinge pin on the left side. I can't remove the pin, I have tried. The door is clearly set up to open on either side but, only if the pin on the bottom hinge is able to be moved. I want to order a new bottom hinge part number 297283901. The picture of this part on the web page shows the pin on the hinge on the outside left just like my current part. Can this part move the pin on the hinge to the outside right side so the door can open on the left side? Or is there a different part that can be purchased to replace the current bottom hinge so the door can open on the left?
