Q:

no heat FGZ831AS1 Frigidaire Laundry center

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help you. Upon researching model FGZ831AS1 I found a couple different things.
First the ignitor has to get to a certain temperature before it will open the gas valve. If the ignitor is functioning properly then it could be the coils on the valve. There is also a shutoff valve that can be stuck closed.
I have linked the diagram below. Number 71 and 72 are the coils. Number 74 is the ignitor and 67 is the shut off valve.  The coils are sold as a package.

Having an appliance we count on a daily base to give up can be really frustrating. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I was searching the Manage My Life website and found a great link. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps! Make sure that the hot inlet water hose is not kinked or clogged. Connect the hose to the hot water faucet and remove the end of the hose where it connects to the back of the washer on the laundry center (with the faucet shut off). Place the end of the hose in a bucket and briefly turn on the hot water faucet to check for proper pressure and flow through the end of the hose. You may have already checked this issue but it is worth mentioning.

Check the inlet water valve screen on the back of the washer for clogs or deposits that could prevent the hot water flow. If that screen is clogged, I recommend that you replace that inlet water valve assembly (part 134190200). You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. The first image below shows how to access and replace that inlet water valve assembly. Be sure that you unplug the laundry center before accessing internal components.

If the inlet screen on the water valve is not clogged, you could still have a failed water valve assembly that is causing this problem. You could also have a bad temperature switch. The second image below shows the wiring diagram with the voltage supply to the hot water valve traced in pink and yellow (should be actual wire colors). In the hot setting, you should be getting voltage to the valve through these wires. I recommend that you unplug the laundry center and check the wiring connections on the temperature switch (Key 15 on the parts drawing in the 4th image). If the wiring connections are okay, you can pull the pink and yellow wires off of that switch and tape them together with electrical tape to bypass that switch. Reassemble the washer and see if it will fill with hot water with that switch bypassed. If it does, then you will need to replace that switch to fix this problem. The part number for the temperature switch is 131620800.

To accurately diagnose the failed component beyond these checks, you would need to conduct some live voltage checks using a volt/ohm meter. This type of testing is dangerous. I recommend that you have a service technician repair the washer if the above tips do not help. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .
