Question and Answers

What would cause my Frigidaire slide-in gas range to take 35 minutes to heat to 350 degrees when it used to only take 10 minutes?

The cause is most likely a weak bake ignitor. When the bake ignitor becomes weak from age and use it will cause the bake burner to take a long time to ignite. If you find that it takes a long time for the bake burner to ignite once the bake ignitor begins to glow, then that would indicate a weak bake ignitor and it will need to be removed and replaced. The bake burner ignitor is part #318177710. You can order and have the bake burner shipped to you from Sears Parts Direct .

To remove the oven bottom, remove the screws located at the rear of the oven bottom. Pull up at rear, disengage front of oven bottom from the oven frame, and pull the oven bottom out of the oven. Remove the burner baffle so that the burner flame can be observed. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before replacing the bake ignitor. Internal metal edges below the oven floor can be sharp. Protective gloves are recommended.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
