Q:

Stove Pilot light of Frigidaire FCFB337GCB

A:

Don, the priority here is to make your wife happy, so let's get to work.... An ignitor works with a valve that will not release gas until the glow portion of the igniter reaches a certain temperature. I suspect the ignitor's ability to glow has weakened. Don, have your tried the broiler? I've provided a link below that is thorough in explaining what I've mentioned above. Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. Don, I hope this link will help guide you as to what might be wrong with your oven and have a nice day.

Henry, thanks so much. The broiler does work. From my understanding, there are two pilots. The inside of the oven works perfectly. I can't get the top off of the stove to check the igniter (at the top of the stove). I may need a socket wrench.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem you are having with your Frigidaire Stove.  I had some problems bringing up the FCFB337GCB  model number.  Can you please double check the model number and reply below with any changes.  Unless this is a 40 year old stove I don't suspect there is a pilot.  Most stoves now use an ignitor that glows brightly to ignite the gas.  You should be able to see the glow when the oven is turned on.  No glow would usually mean the ignitor is bad and needs to be replaced.  Replacing the ignitor can be a great do-it-yourself project.  Please check the model number and reply below for additional assistance.

Thanks so much Fred. The model number is FGFB337GCB. I'm sure the oven isn't 40 years old. The oven igniter works like a charm. However, on top of the stove is where the issue is. I can manually lite the eyes. When I turn them off, they won't turn back on when the knob is turn to "lite." Thanks again

The diagram below shows the wiring for the surface ignitor circuit. Notice each surface valve has an ignitor switch. I do not expect all four switches to fail at the same time. The spark module 316135701 has faild. On most ovens the spark module would be mounted to the rear wall of the range.
