Question and Answers

Q:

how do I change my stove #FGF316DQG from natural gas to propane

A:

Changing an appliance from one fuel source to another can be tricky. First you want to make sure your model is compatible for a change. The owner's manual is a good place to start. If it is compatible for change, an option is to visit Sears Home Services and use the handy scheduler to have an expert technician handle the work. If you are handy and prefer to do the work yourself, the expert will be along with directions. Good luck with your project.

A qualified installer should complete this gas conversion.

Some ranges have the LP conversion kit with instructions attached to the back panel. If you can find the conversion kit and instructions, you can provide them to the installer to complete the conversion.

If you cannot find the conversion kit, you can order one from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the conversion kit on this range is 316243723. The kit will have the instructions included.

The process for conversion normally involves replacing the orifices on the stove top burners. The pressure regulator normally needs to be converted as well. The orifice spud on the oven burner usually needs to be adjusted to the LP position and the air shutter will need to be altered.

The ServiceLive.com website has installers available in most areas that can complete this conversion for you. Here is a link for that website: ServiceLive.com . Your gas company will also be able to complete the conversion in most areas.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
