Question and Answers

Q:

How to decide between dead Control Board or Console or Other? FGBD2431KF1 Frigidaire Dishwasher

A:

The problem with the dishwasher is concerning. Being able to replace the correct part first is important. I did some research on your model number but was not able to find an answer to your question. Your expert will be able to help answer your question. It may take two business days. I do hope that everything works out on the dishwasher.

You are on the right path with testing everything. It sounds like everything is working the way it needs to. What you will have to replace is the control board. The console is just the outer casing.

From the description you give I suspect the circulation motor is not running.

If the unit is filling with water then the door switches are okay.

This unit has a circulation motor and a drain pump.

If you open the door in the cycle does the water seem to have been circulating?

If the circulation motor is not running then the control or motor will be at fault. A meter will be needed at this point to check the problem.

One thing to try is to enter and run the diagnostic test cycle. See the image below for how to do this.

I hope this helps clear up the problem. You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.

Ran water service test here are the results. 1. Water valve kicked on filled with water, washing LED light came on (not sure what is meant by sensing LED. 2. same as # 1 3. Everything OK, except wash motor didn't kick on 4. OK 5. Everything OK, except wash motor didn't kick on 6. Same as #5 7. All OK 8. All OK Total line = both lights came on (sanitized and clean). When it fills how much water should be in the tub? I even took a pitcher of water and put about a gallon or so of water to see it that did anything, it did nothing. Thanks for your assistance.

Also, the motor makes no sound at all, no buzzing, no clicking, nothing. I do own a multi meter so I can test the motor, I will need to know how exactly how to do that. Again, thanks.

Without a meter you are between a rock and a hard place. The motor is bad or the control board is bad and you would need a meter to check which is bad. Sometimes when there are two suspects then the cheaper one can be replace first but both of these parts cost approximately the same. The control 154806401 cost about $90 dollars while the motor 154594201 also cost about $92 dollars. I would suggest you borrow a meter to check continuity across the motor on the two connectors. Check out Radio Shack. You might be able to get a meter that will check resistance/continuity for about $20 dollars. Any part you need can be obtained from the following link: [Sears PartsDirect | http://www.searspartsdirect.com?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch] . I hope this helps but let me know if you need any additional help.

Remember to turn the power to the dishwasher off first before checking continuity.

The motor didn't beep. I placed it on the drain motor, it beeped. So I assume them my culprit is the wash circulating motor. Again thanks for all your help.
