Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The thermal couple has right hand threads which means to remove the thermal couple, turn it counter clockwise (CCW). To install it, turn it clockwise(CW).

The thermal couple adapter which threads on the gas valve has left hand threads which means to remove the thermal couple adapter, turn it clockwise (CW).

You will likely have to order the thermal couple assembly at Searspartsdirect in order to get the correct assebly.

I would replace the pilot and the ignitor for this model.  I have them available and by your model, I believe is natural gas.  Have them on the link below to click on.
